The Independent Schools Association of Rhode Island is an association of 29 schools located throughout the state. Independent schools are nonprofit entities governed by boards of trustees and supported by tuition payments, charitable contributions and endowment revenue. Through the accreditation process, schools hold themselves publicly acceptable to all who seek assurance that they meet high standards of education quality, operation and staff competence.

Member schools vary widely; ranging in size from 34 to 1,334 students per school. Providing campuses that are urban, suburban or rural. Student bodies that are coeducation, single-sex and boarding and day facilities. The majority of schools are secular, but many are religiously affiliated. Our schools are commited to challenging students to stretch their minds and offer rigorous academic programs which prepare them to think critically, meet challenges and become lifetime learners. Educational opportunities at independent schools also extend well beyond the classroom--to athletic competitions, artistic pursuits and school leadership positions. These experiences are a formative part of an independent school education and critical to a student's ability to successfully navigate through adult life.

Independent schools are close-knit communities that are uniquely capable of providing students with individualized attention. Schools are committed to developing responsible independent and community-oriented students, encouraging a lifetime of commitment to community involvement and a sense of social responsibility and global citizenship. All schools admit students without regard to race, color, national or ethnic origin to all the rights and privileges, programs and activities available to students.
